Track Contact Source for Effective Real Estate Contact Management

Target future marketing efforts and budget to what works.

By James Kimmons, About.com

Your real estate contact management system must track the source of as many of your prospects as possible. Knowing if they're a potential buyer or seller is important, but so is knowing where you came by them in the first place. Popular sources are:

Direct Mail
Web Site
Blog
Personal Referral
Broker Referral
Club/Organization
Other

In future years, you'll be able to take your client list, group them by the "source" field and see where your actual business is coming from. Though you may see more prospects from one source, actual commission income should indicate your most valuable sources. You can then take this information and better focus your marketing efforts and budget..
